Faith Formation for Children & Teens
Registration for children and teens preparing for First Communion or Confirmation.
St. John XXIII Catholic Parish is preparing for the 2026-2027 Faith Formation year. Families are invited to complete one registration form for each child or teen who will be preparing for the sacraments.

Sacraments Offered Through Faith Formation
Faith Formation at St. John XXIII helps children and teens prepare to receive the sacraments with understanding, reverence, and a deeper connection to Christ and parish life.

Baptism
Baptism is the first sacrament of Christian life. Through Baptism, a person is welcomed into the Church and begins life as a child of God.
Students who have not yet received Baptism may still register. The parish will help guide the next steps when needed.

First Communion
First Communion is the first time a baptized child receives the Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Christ, in the sacrament that is at the center of Catholic life.
Children in 1st grade or above may register for First Communion preparation.

Confirmation
Confirmation strengthens the grace received in Baptism and seals the person with the gift of the Holy Spirit. It helps young people live their Catholic faith with greater maturity and commitment.
Teens in 7th grade or above may register for Confirmation preparation.

A Step in a Lifelong Journey of Faith
Preparing for the sacraments is more than completing a class or receiving a certificate. Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation invite each student into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and a more active life in the Church.
Faith Formation at St. John XXIII helps students learn the Catholic faith, grow in prayer, participate in the life of the parish, and continue walking with God beyond the day they receive the sacrament.
Faith Formation FAQs

Faith Formation helps students know Christ, understand the Catholic faith, and begin applying that faith in daily life.
Families should register children or teens who are preparing to receive First Communion or Confirmation.
If a family is not sure which class is the right fit, they should still complete the registration form. The parish will review the student’s sacramental history and help determine the appropriate placement.
Yes. Students who have not yet received Baptism may still register.
The parish needs to know so that Baptism can be planned before First Communion or Confirmation, when needed.
Preparation for First Communion and Confirmation is a two-year process.
The registration form helps the parish understand each student’s sacramental history and determine whether the student should begin the first year of preparation or be considered for the second year.
If a student completed the first year of preparation at another parish, the family should provide a letter from that parish confirming the completed year.
The parish will review the information and determine the appropriate placement.
Families should download and complete one registration form for each child or teen.
The completed form, required documents, and registration fee must be brought to the parish office in person.
Families are encouraged to call the parish office to schedule an appointment before coming in.
